Life Insurance in Pennsylvania
Life insurance supports your loved ones financially in the event of an untimely passing. It protects your family, covers your personal loans/mortgages, and pays off your debts. If you are a resident of the state of Pennsylvania and you are thinking of getting life insurance here is some information that you should know:
- A ten-day free look period: This period allows prospective policyholders time to review their policy, evaluate it, and decide whether they want to move forward with establishing it.
- 30-day grace period: This period is legally required in case a policyholder were to miss a payment. During these 30 days, you are able to make a late payment on your policy without a lapse.
- There are two types of life insurance to choose from: The first is Term Life Insurance which covers you for a certain period of time. Its biggest advantage is that it's simple and it's more affordable. The second type is Whole Life Insurance which covers a policyholder for the rest of their life as long as insurance payments are made without a lapse greater than 30 days.
- Pennsylvania Guarantee Association: It is committed to protecting policyholders in the event their insurance company becomes insolvent. For example, if an insurance company files for bankruptcy the Association will step in by continuing coverage and paying policyholder claims.
